A huge snow storm rolled in today. Hurley and Lilly were very interested in it. Hurley liked to watch it hit the window.
Remember earlier how I wrote Lilly is lucky she's so cute? Well it's very true! Tonight I needed to use the printer. My husband has a silly mix up with the DMV in California and I needed to print out some documents. The computer said that the printer was offline. Okay, so I checked to see if it was plugged in and found the wire had been completely severed! I thought the wires were hidden and I have no idea how she got to it. I've never had a cat chew wires before. The little nut! Well, I guess it's back to square one with the kitten proofing.

I had to vacuum today and poor Lilly, who is so reactive to sounds, got pretty upset! After I was done vacuuming she put on her attitude face and ended up biting me twice. So she ended up having 2 timeouts so she could calm down. It's funny how a little change in the routine makes her bite. We had a few days with no biting and no timeouts and then I vacuum and she's back to biting. It wasn't a big deal, there was no blood drawn but I still gave her the timeouts so she could chill. I'm going to do a clicker training session tonight and it will include being touched and clicked for being nice while being touched. I would really like to get her to the point where she doesn't feel the need to bite. Miss Lilly is so lucky she's cute! :D
They are so cute when they are behaving! :D My mother-in-law was in town for my birthday, we went out shopping for a while and when we got back we found Hurley and Lilly all curled up like this.
Happy Valentine's Day from Hurley and Pandora! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
It's been a while! We've been very busy at Pandora's Box! Pandora has been sick with a URI. She's was on baytril for a week. Poor baby! She's feeling much better now!
I've been making an attempt at "taming the beast", trying to teach Miss Lilly some manners. She has entered her teenage stage and is taking biting to a whole new level. I've been clicker training her and desensitizing her to being touched. She has recently decided that petting or being picked up is not allowed unless she's sleepy or when she invites me to do so. I'm also teaching her other behaviors that will be useful, like getting down when told. She's also learning to touch the target stick. After each training session she gets a play session with her favorite wand toy. I will update on how she's doing as things progress and I will do my best to update the blog more often!
Lilly is all tuckered out from her training sessions.
Recently, the kitties got a care package from Grandmeow. They got new toys with catnip! It's been very exciting since the new toys got here. Pandora already ripped the ear off of one of the mice.
Even Hurley, who isn't a big fan of catnip, got in on the action.
A year ago today we got our Hurley.
Hurley's mug shot from the shelter:
Our first evening home with Hurley, he was a little scared and hiding under the couch.
He came right out though, after about an hour and snuggled with my husband.
The next day he owned the couch.
and the next day the bed.
Then "Daddy" bought him a new-to-us kitty condo..
I think Hurley is very happy and content with us...
